September 17, 2024

This comparison shows the municipality of Jávea, in the north of the Spanish province of Alicante, viewed from Cabo San Antonio in a photograph taken around the year 1900 (exact year unknown) and another taken in August 2024. In the 2024 photograph, we can see the port, whose construction began in the 1950s, the modification of the Gorgos River’s course, and the urban development of the municipality, which today has around 30,000 inhabitants. During the summer season, its population quadruples.
