These two satellite images taken on Aug 26, 2023 and June 30, 2025 show the land surrounding the municipality of Seferihisar before and after several wildfires tore through the western Izmir Province of Turkey in the last week of June, 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The Government claims hundreds of fires occurred in the last week of June, fuelled by strong winds, low humidity and high temperatures. The deaths of an 81-year-old citizen and two firefighters have been recorded according to Ibrahim Yumakali<\/a>, Turkey\u2019s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

So far this year approximately 51,506 hectares of land have been burnt across Turkey, according to the European Forest Fire Information System data. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
